- I am still buzzing from the EMDR retreat experience, it was amazing!
These are some of the comments made after the first EMDR Experience which took place in 2023.
This three-day retreat-style workshop with Robin Logie will provide an opportunity to enhance and develop your therapeutic skills and attunement to your clients as an EMDR therapist.
Known for his clear teaching style with its blend of warmth, humour and humility, Robin will provide a safe environment in which to experiment with and extend your skills as EMDR therapist.
What?
The workshop will include a combination of formal teaching, demonstration, and experience of receiving and practicing EMDR therapy. It will be limited to 18 participants together with one trainer and two facilitators.
The teaching element (4½ hours) of the workshop will include some core elements such as case formulation, target selection, finding the right Negative Cognition and brushing up on the basic EMDR standard protocol. The remainder of the teaching will very much be designed around participants’ individual needs and interests and may include areas in which Robin has a particular interest, such as Flashforwards, OCD, Storytelling, Grief or Complex Trauma.
The demonstration element (4½ hours) will include three sessions of EMDR therapy conducted by Robin with a volunteer, using the group as a consulting team.
The experiential element (9 hours) of the workshop will involve participants working in pairs to provide EMDR therapy to each other, closely supervised by Robin or his facilitators, Ines Santos & Marion Tobin. Each participant will have one session as client and one session as therapist each day and will give and receive a total of three sessions of therapy.
A fourth informal element of the workshop will be a chance to socialise and, if the weather permits, explore the wonderful countryside in the surrounding area on foot individually or as a group. As this a retreat-style workshop, please note that all participants will be asked to ‘engage in building a spirit of community, generosity and co-operation with the house staff and your fellow participants’ through involvement in simple everyday tasks such as washing up and vegetable preparation. This will be a different way of getting to know each other!
Excluding all breaks and informal elements, the workshop will total 18 hours and has, accordingly, been awarded 18 CPD points by the EMDR Association UK.
