Dr Robin Logie
Dr Robin Logie is a Clinical Psychologist (registered with the Health and Care Professions Council) and EMDR Europe accredited Consultant and Trainer.
Robin trained as a clinical psychologist in 1983 at the University of Birmingham and obtained a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Bangor in 2005. After working in the NHS for 7 years, he started his own company, providing psychological therapy and medico-legal assessments for both adults and children.
Since training in EMDR in 1996, Robin has steadily developed his expertise in EMDR. For nine years he was at the centre of the UK’s EMDR community as Treasurer of the EMDR Association UK & Ireland and then its President for three years. During this time, he was on the steering committee for two international EMDR conferences and opened the 2014 EMDR Europe conference in Edinburgh in the presence of Francine Shapiro, the founder of EMDR.
For many years Robin has been involved in EMDR training as a supervisor of EMDR therapists. He has developed a particular expertise in this area, presenting workshops on EMDR supervision and being invited by the EMDR Association to run Consultants Trainings in the UK which he has been doing since 2022. In 2023 he also ran a Consultants Training in Cairo on behalf Trauma Aid UK for EMDR therapists from across North Africa and the Middle East. In 2024 Robin’s book entitled EMDR Supervision. A Handbook was published by Routledge.
Robin’s interest in the Flashforward procedure led him to collaborating with Ad de Jongh to publish their seminal paper on Flashforward in 2014. Linked to this has been his interest in the use of EMDR in the treatment of OCD, a topic on which he has presented workshops for UK conferences and regional groups.
Robin has also developed an interest in the Storytelling (Narrative) approach in EMDR. As well as presenting several workshops on this topic, Robin collaborated with five other colleagues to publish a guide to the Storytelling approach in 2020.
Dr Logie has published a number of articles on EMDR in peer-reviewed journals and he was a member of a research team at Manchester University, which includes Dr Filippo Varese and Prof Richard Bentall, evaluating EMDR in the treatment of psychosis. He has presented at conferences, not only those specialising in EMDR but also other events such as chairing as symposium on EMDR at a British Psychological Society conference in Oxford in 2012. He has presented at EMDR conferences and workshops in Liverpool, Edinburgh, The Hague, Bruges, Valencia and Cologne and has been booked to present in Stockholm in 2027.
Although Robin is now retired, he will continue running Consultants Trainings on behalf of the EMDR Association until 2027. He will also be publishing book – an introduction to EMDR for the layperson – to be published by August books in 2026.
In his retirement, Robin continues to keep himself busy with his allotment and managing the 83 allotments on his allotment site. He is an active member of his local Green Party for which he is the treasurer. He sings with Bath Choral Society and plays the trumpet in Frome Symphony Orchestra. He is also kept occupied, helping in the care of his grandson, Arty.
